After that I've been visiting primary school for eight years. Most of my personal
qualities and life concepts were developed there: lazyness, dislike for
obligations and somehow unconventional rules for success. During the primary
school I've met the man who actually inspired my interest in physics. That
was my physics and mathematics teacher in 7th class, mr. Janez Smrke. In my
honest opinion, he have had the most pedagogical approach to kids, although
he was engineer by his education. Well, this was exactly the reason for him
to be my teacher only for one year; after that they kicked him out of school.
His successor was educated teacher, but his approach was far from
pedagogical.
All of my personal qualities mentioned above contributed to the fact that I
was not an excelent pupil during my school time, be it primary or high
school; I was not shining as a student either.
While I'm talking about high school:
I was visiting Rudolf
Maister's High school for natural sciences (srednja
naravoslovna sola Rudolfa Maistra) in Kamnik. Kamnik is a nice little
town about 25 kilometers north from Ljubljana. I travelled there by train, of
course. Besides other obvious advantages, that train has comparing to bus,
there was another one: it took so enormous long time to get to Kamnik that I
could copy all the homework.
Well, in spite of everything, I've finished high school quite successfully, and after that I had to go to serve "higher purposes" administrated by government of (now allready former) state. We never have reached those "higher purposes", but as a side effect I've got a driving licence that permits me to drive trucks.
Perhaps one of government's purposes was to make me forget everything I've learned during my high school. At least in this was "our beloved army" quite successful. When I begun studying at university, I've had quite some problems.
Our new state also remembered me, this time it envited me to one-week camping. I have to say, that it went quite well, only our free time was somehow dull; our activities were limited to deal with small extinguishers (pronounce: beer cans).
As allready mentioned, in 1989 I started to study physics at physics department. With varying success I first studied physics just to switch to meteorology later. I successfully (bit not with honours though) finnished my studies in April 1998.
Currently I'm employed by Hydrometeorological institute of Slovenia (in Slovene only - for now I guess).
And at the end about my personal status: a while ago I met Polona again. Obviously she doesn't mind the fact that I'm a silly sarcastic guy too much. She doesn't agree with the previous sentence, she says that it actually should read 'sweet and clever Polona's kitten'.
